KAMA US held it’s first annual Spring Gala on March 14, 2015, which turned out to be the largest KAMA national event to date.  Over 130 guests joined us for the evening at the Water Club in NYC.  The Spring Gala’s evening program included special remarks, award presentations, a keynote lecture and a special performance by the Heart Strings Ensemble, all of which were smoothly conducted over a five-course dinner.

The AMA President Dr. Robert M. Wah, Congressman Charles Rangel, and Ambassador Son Se-Joo gave motivational speeches which reverberated in our hearts throughout the evening.  KAMA US recognized Drs. Howard Koh (not present), Peter Rhee (not present), Larry Kwak, Peter Chung, William Oh (not present), Dennis Chi, and Isaac Kim as Korean American physician leaders for their exceptional contributions to science, medicine and healthcare.  Two medical students, Eric Jung (Penn State University College of Medicine- not present) and Chase Kwon (University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry) were selected as the 2015 KAMA scholars and awarded $1000 each.

Finally, KAMA US had the privilege of presenting the KAMA Life Time Achievement Award to Dr. Waun Ki Hong, a KA physician leader, a renowned medical oncologist, teacher, and researcher who has revolutionized the treatment of lung, head, and neck cancer worldwide.  Dr. Hong inspired his captivated audience at the gala with his keynote speech “Living American Dream: An Exciting Journey of Opportunities and Challenges.”

The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all; and on all accounts, KAMA Spring Gala 2015 was a huge success!
