Greetings! 안녕하세요!
I am so happy to meet you and let me be the first to welcome you to our KAMA community.
KAMA, which was started by a small group of Korean American physicians, has shared a little more than 50 years of camaraderie and friendship, The KAMA community has now grown to include two generations of Korean American physicians living and working all over the world. It is the love of our beautiful Korean heritage and medicine that connect us together.
I believe: a community is where one can identify oneself, a community is a safe space to exchange ideas. and a community is where our friends are. I hope to share this KAMA community with you in 2026.
We all know there are many Korean American physicians who have achieved and who are doing amazing things in their backyard. We as fellow Korean Americans take pride when we witness or hear such stories. But let’s not be in silos. With so much talent and resources amongst us, can you imagine the potential of what we can accomplish collectively.
KAMA can serve as the hub for this community by providing an infrastructure for easier connection and networking, by providing mentorship for members in all phases of career, and by providing opportunities for community service to fellow Korean Americans. I encourage all of you to join KAMA. There is power in numbers, so we can grow and ensure the legacy of KAMA.
I came to the states when I was 8 years old and grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am a radiologist, currently practicing in the DC Metro area. I found my community in the DC/MD/VA KAMA chapter 10 years ago. So my personal goal for the year is to promote this idea of KAMA is a Community.
